To “savor” means to pause, fully experience, and deeply appreciate something….like savoring the sweet taste of watermelon in the summer! Psalm 34:8 invites us to “taste and see that the Lord is good!” Savoring Christ Church is a multi-generational community of faith that is passionate about Jesus Christ, and we want to pause, fully experience, and deeply appreciate Him! We’re passionate about Jesus because of the great love and kindness He has shown to each one of us. No one can love you more than Christ – he gave his very life for you. Even when we disregard him and turn our back on his ways, He loves us and is gracious to us. Jesus is worthy of our full attention and love – to savor Christ and to help others to savor Him is our ultimate goal in life.
Maybe some of us are more outspoken or bold in our sinning (living for ourself), but we all choose to do things that are not pleasing to the God who created us, as well as offending others around us too. Then in the middle of our selfishness, Christ reached out and called us to follow Him. Amazing! Why would He do that? One thing’s for sure, it isn’t because we somehow deserve his love or forgiveness. There’s no way we could ever earn or deserve to be His followers. The overwhelming kindness of His grace and love draw us to Him. Finding ourselves unworthy, yet being clearly drawn to Christ, we cry out for His forgiveness, for His healing, and for a new chance to honor Him. Amazingly, He accepts us and transforms us from within by the power of the Holy Spirit. All this is possible because He chose to die in our place on the cross. He made that sacrifice to pay for our sins, while He himself had never sinned. The just dying for the unjust – that’s why they call it “Amazing Grace”. By faith in Christ we are forgiven of our sin and selfishness , and we stand in awe of our great Redeemer and Lord. Still struggling in our battle with our own sinfulness, yet deeply changed by Christ, we walk in a new way of life – seeking to honor Jesus with all that we are. He has changed our heart, made us new, and set us on a new path. We’ve been adopted into God’s family by faith, and every day we want to savor the goodness of God in our lives as we continue to learn and grow up as His children together. Life as a believer and follower of Christ is profoundly different than our old way of life – we have a new purpose, a new direction, a new heart…all because of Christ!
If you are reading this and you are still looking for a place to call home when it comes to a church family, I want to extend a warm welcome from our little flock! We’re far from perfect, but we just might be the family of faith that you need, and you might be the person or family that we need to be more like Christ!
Living for the fame of Jesus the Savior,
Pastor Brian for Savoring Christ Church
What do you think of when you hear the term “mission trip”? Maybe going to Africa or some other distant land? Well missions can be far or near to a great variety of places, but mostly it’s about intentionally going out of our normal paths in order to share the message and love of Christ with others. Our church was launched about a year ago and when we started we knew we wanted to be a church that is involved in missions – involved by giving financially to support missionaries and by going ourselves to share the gospel in as many places as possible. What motivates us to go….having a passion for Christ and desiring to see others come to know our wonderful Savior! So the time has come to launch out on our first intentional mission trip. We’ll be heading to West Virginia just before Christmas and partnering with another local church there to reach out to the children and families in their area. Singing Christmas hymns, passing out gifts to kids, and telling the story of Jesus is the plan. Our prayer is that God will touch and draw hearts to Himself, that they will trust and believe in Christ for salvation, and that some new families will be welcomed into the local church where they can continue to follow Christ. God works in many ways to reach the lost and to build His kingdom. Pray for us as we take a few steps of faith – that God would use our feeble efforts, that He would change us to be more like Christ, and that sinners would find hope and salvation in the only one worthy of our worship – Jesus Christ!
Have you ever wondered what heaven will be like? What will we do there? Will there be more than singing and harp playing? Will the New Earth be like the earth we know now? We’ll be looking into the scriptures to discover the amazing things God has in store for His people, so come and join us on Sunday mornings at 10 at the Piedmont Baptist Association Gymnasium during November for our series “Heaven…a Biblical Perspective”. Follow the links for maps and directions.
Prayer is as essential to the Christian as air is to the physical body. God has opened the gates to his throne room and desires for us to come to Him with all of our worship, needs, desires, struggles, and petitions. Sensing the need for some time of gathered prayer, we have set aside the evening of August 30th (Friday night) for a time of prayer as a church family. All are welcome to come and join us for this time of serious prayer and worship. We’ll be meeting at the Piedmont Baptist Association at 2009 Sharpe Road in Greensboro, just south of the Lee Street exit off of I-40.

Hello Friends! This Sunday (June 16th) and next Sunday (June 23rd) David Ball will be preaching on the sacrifice of Isaac in Hebrews 11:17-19.
David is a great teacher and preacher of the Word and I know you will be challenged and encouraged by his message. God gave Abraham a huge test of faith when He asked Abraham to sacrifice his only son, Isaac. But God miraculously intervened and provided a ram to sacrifice in the place of Isaac. This Old Testament story was a preview of things to come in the New Testament times when Jesus entered the scene. God the Father sacrificed His only Son, Jesus Christ, as the sacrificial lamb to take away our sins. Don’t miss these powerful messages as David preaches from Hebrews and Genesis!
We look forward to seeing you…. join us at the Piedmont Baptist Association Gymnasium, Sunday morning at 10 AM. Maps are available at the links on the left side of this web page.
Yours for His Glory,
My wife and I have homeschooled our daughters from kindergarten through high school graduation and have loved every minute of it! It’s been a great start to a new year! Now that we’ve been meeting for 5 months, we’re multiplying home groups – one meeting in East Greensboro/Gibsonville and one meeting in High Point on Wednesday evenings. Call or email for directions or more information. 336-266-7591 email@example.com
Our congregation is building deeper relationships and learning how to use our gifts in reaching out to others. It’s an exciting time, kind of like being a toddler – so much ahead of us :-) We are learning from those who have been down the road before us, gaining from their wisdom and experience.
One of those wise leaders is Gregg Harris. Gregg is a leader among homeschool families, church planters, and writers on the Christian life. He has planted a network of churches that emphasize a Christ centered life and a multigenerational approach to ministry. He has also written some of the best and most widely read materials for homeschooling families in the U.S. and abroad. We will be hosting a conference here in Greensboro this spring (likely April) with Gregg and we hope many families will come and be blessed by his godly vision, outstanding presentations, and practical wisdom for leading a godly home. More details coming soon :-)
Hope you can join us for worship in the coming days….let’s truly savor all that Christ is to us in 2013!
